[Group] Project 1: Experiencing Construction

 

In this project,a group of 8 is required to produce a complete set of documents.We were required to understand and analyse plus explain the construction elements and its components.In this project,we are required to draw the details of those elements,getting the basic understanding of how they work together as the same material or different materials.My group members are Tan Yew Siang,Wong Yan Ce,Tan Wee Keat,Eugene Chan,Tan Ree Han,Lee Kah Ho,Alysdair Chin Farrell,and Ting Jin Rong (Me).

 

The objectives of this project is :

 

•  To introduce basic principles and procedures of construction process through real-life project (experiential learning).

 

•  To understand the sequence and coordination of construction at site.

 

•  To expose students to construction technology/methods responding to site context.

 

•  To allow student to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of construction, material and

  technology.

 

•  To train students to produce manual sketches, drawings and detailing relating to EXISTING

  construction.

 

Reflection: From this project, I have learnt that there are rules that needed to be followed before entering the construction site that is the safety rules or general rules. I have also learnt the basic construction process of buildings from the foundation to the roof. Besides that, I have also learnt that the joint used,materials used on a building could affect the greatly,not only on the exterior,but also the interior as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

[Individual] Project 2 : Construction Detail and Specification

 

 

For this project,it is corresponds to Design Studio 2 : Project 2b - Beach house.This project is a continuation of the first project - an integrated project which involves construction detailing solution for Project 2b in Architecture Studio 2. We were required to understand the construction process of a building from the roof, superstructures and the foundation. This is so that one would understand how a building can be constructed.

The objectives for this project are :

 

• To develop an understanding of the structural elements in construction and its application in the construction industry.

 

• To apply suitable construction elements, material and detail/ joint solutions suitable for a specific design.

 

• To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of build ability.

 

• To demonstrate awareness of how buildings are developed in response to practical considerations.

 

• To demonstrate certain levels of manual drawing and sketching skills.

 

• To allow students to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of

  construction, material and technology.

 

• To encourage students to produce manual sketches, drawings and detailing

  relating to construction.
